What is ageing?
Ageing is apparent through our skin. As age advances wrinkles and sagging skin becomes more evident accompanied by grey or white hairs.
Our skin is made up of 3 main layers.
Epidermis: It is the outer layer and consists of skin cells, pigment, and protein.
Dermis: It is the middle layer and consists of skin cells, nerves, blood vessels, hair follicles, and oil plants. The dermis is responsible for providing nutrition to the epidermis.
Subcutaneous layer: It is the innermost layer and consists of sweat plants, hair follicles, blood vessels, and fat.
As age progresses the epidemic starts getting thinner however the number of cell layers remains unaffected. The melanocytes decrease in number, and the remaining melanocytes get bigger. It gives skin a thinner, pale, and translucent appearance.
Due to the changes in connective tissue strength and flexibility of the skin decreases and it renders the skin a leathery appearance. Many internal and external factors contribute to aging of the skin.
Internal factors:
Hormones: Hormonal disturbances play an active role in the ageing process such as decreasing oestrogen levels.
Genetic factors: Ageing has a genetic predisposition.
Blood supply: Decreased blood supply causes a deficient supply of nutrients and oxygen to the skin.
External factors:
Air pollution
Extreme sun exposure leads to damage to cells due to UV rays.
Smoking and alcohol
Improper skincare routine

Pigmentation or uneven skin tone

What are various anti-aging treatments?
At Wellness clinic, the best skin clinic in Delhi for anti-aging treatment, our focus is to reduce signs of ageing with non-invasive procedures and state-of-the-art technology. It will aid you in living life to the fullest with radiant skin. Various treatments we offer:
Laser skin rejuvenation: Laser resurfacing reduces skin wrinkles, scars, and pigmentation, it removes lesions and lightens the skin.
The treatment involves removing layer by layer of skin through a vaporisation process. The laser removes the epidermis and the thermal energy is generated which eats the underlying layer -the dermis. The laser causes a uniform injury to the skin and induces healing by the growth of new collagen fibres and more healthy-looking and firm skin is formed. There are 2 types of laser resurfacing:
Erbium laser resurfacing: It is recommended for superficial and moderately deep wrinkles and lines on the face, neck, hands, and chest. It requires the application of a local anaesthetic before the procedure and causes minimal injury to the surrounding structures. The recovery time for the erbium laser is one week.
Fractionated CO2 laser treatment: Dermatologists have used the treatment over the years. The new technology of CO2 lasers requires very short pulsed light energy or continuous light beams which remove the skin layers with high precision and reduces heat damage to surrounding structures. The recovery time for the procedure is up to two weeks.
Dermabrasion: It is an exfoliation technique through which outer layers of the skin on the face are removed. It is an outpatient procedure; a numbing agent is applied over the skin under treatment and a rotating motorised device is applied to improve skin appearance.
It uncovers a new layer of skin that is healthier and smoother. Large areas required multiple sessions of dermabrasion anti-aging treatment. Complete recovery time after treatment is about 3 months.
Platelet Rich Plasma: It uses patients’ blood to stimulate collagen production and cell migration. It helps to eliminate lines, folds, and wrinkles for a longer period of up to two years. It is a non-invasive procedure and does not cause any side effects. It is suitable for patients who do not want to go for other anti-aging treatments.
PRP along with Hyaluronic acid fillers -Restylane and Juvederm which work as complementary to each other. It enhances texture and imparts younger-looking skin to the patient. PRP therapy provides volume to face.
Dermal fillers: Dermal fillers are used to treat wrinkles around the nose and mouth, regain volume to cheeks or temples, diminish vertical lip lines and chin crease, enhance the appearance of lips, and achieve symmetry in the face.
Dermal fillers mean a gel-like material is injected underneath the skin for facial rejuvenation. Fillers are made up of hyaluronic acid, calcium hydroxylapatite, Poly-L-Lactic Acid, and Polymethylmethacrylate. Dermal fillers take up to two weeks to completely settle down in the face.
Chemical peels: As the name suggests a chemical is used for exfoliation to improve the appearance of skin and diminish signs of ageing. It is also known as derma peeling or chemexfoliation. A chemical solution penetrates the skin layers and causes injury. The inner layer of skin is revealed to be youthful in appearance and with fewer wrinkles and lines. The chemical anti-aging treatment helps to improve fine lines under your eyes, around the mouth, sun-damaged skin and ageing you to hereditary factors
3 types of chemical peels:
Light chemical peel
Medium chemical peel
Deep chemical peel
With a medium chemical peel, patients take 7 to 14 days for healing and recovery takes up to a month.
Radiofrequency micro-needling: The cosmetic procedure uses radiofrequency waves in tandem with tiny needles to rejuvenate facial skin. It causes controlled injury to the skin and promotes the growth of new skin. It is a minimally invasive procedure.
Micro-needling creates micro-wounds in the area and stimulates the production of capillaries, elastin, and collagen. It is more effective by using PRP therapy. 3 to 6 months are required to obtain desired results depending on the number of sessions and skin condition treated.
Botox therapy: Botulinum toxin injections in small quantities are injected in overactive muscles. It aids in localised muscle relaxation and diminishing wrinkles.
When a person smiles, talks or laughs, muscles of the face contract, and over some time it gives rise to wrinkles, and frown lines. Botox therapy works wonders in such cases. Results are visible in two weeks and last for three to four months.
Medi facials: These are medically acclaimed facials used as an anti-aging treatment. These are safe and customised to suit all skin types and are only performed by a certified dermatologist. It involves various devices and techniques such as microcurrent, photo rejuvenation, LED therapy, etc
