What is Hair transplantation?
Hair transplantation is a surgical procedure where the transfer of hair follicles is carried out on the bald scalp. The site from which hair follicles are taken out is called the donor site. The site at which hair follicles are transplanted is called the recipient site.
It is an in-office procedure and requires local anesthesia. A dermatologist takes out hair back of from head and shifts them to the frontal hair deficient regions.

Causes of hair loss:

Male pattern baldness
Androgenetic alopecia:
It is also called male pattern baldness. Though it is prevalent in males it is also commonly seen in females. It is a genetic condition and hair loss occurs due to an increased response to androgen. It can be seen in both men and women, but predominantly in men.
The hair loss is in a specific pattern, starting from the temple region and hairline lower to form an M shape. 50% of men and women suffer from androgenic alopecia according to the National Centre of biotechnology information (NCBI). Hair implants are effective to treat androgenetic alopecia.
The procedure of hair transplantation: This procedure requires skin grafting containing hair follicles. These hair follicles are harvested such that they are genetically resistant to balding. For example, a graft from the back of the head.
The procedure is equally effective for restoring eyebrows, eyelashes, beard hair, chest hair, and pubic hair. Hair transplantation works well to feel the scar from trauma or surgical incision. It is also used to fill previous hair transplant marks. The minimally invasive surgery it's completed by using tiny grafts instead of using A single stripe of skin.
Follicular units are harvested and transplanted at the bald site, same as natural hair growth which develops in groups of 1 to 4 hair strands. Therefore, the transplanted hair resembles the original hair. This type of hair weaving is called Follicular unit transplantation. (FAU)
Strip harvesting and follicular unit extraction (FUE) are two methods of donor hair collection.
In the beginning, a surgeon disinfects the area under treatment and locally anaesthetises the back of your head. The hair doctor selects between follicular unit strip surgery (FUSS) or Follicular unit extraction.
The type and number of grafts depend upon the type of hair loss, quality, size of the treatment area, quality, colour, etc.
In FUSS, a 6 to 8-inch strip of skin from the back of the head is taken out. The graft is used later in the procedure, but the donor site is properly sutured and closed. The area is covered by surrounding hairs.
The graft strip is divided into 500 to 2000 tiny pieces each containing one or few hairs. These tiny grafts are then transplanted into the required area.
In follicular unit extraction or FUE, the surgeon will shave the back of your scalp. The hair doctor will remove every hair follicle individually and transplant it into the required area. The donor area will heal by dots.
Hair transplant treatment takes 4 to 8 hours depending upon the area to be covered.
Patients can resume work in 2 to 5 days after the procedure. The transplanted hair starts falling in 2 to 3 weeks; however, new growth is visible within a few months. 60% of new hair growth is visible in 6 to 9 months in most cases.
Side effects:
Bleeding
Infection
Scarring
Swelling of the scalp
Itching
folliculitis or inflammation of hair follicles
